ABOUT VCU
The Van City United Disc Golf Club (VCU) was established in 2013 by Leanne Fulton, Ryan Hebert and Shawn Luco, with the thought of incorporating the three Vancouver disc golf courses and their communities into one unified club. The aim was to create a club to use as an umbrella for members and the disc community to host events, reach out to new members and raise awareness and interest in the sport of disc golf. With this in mind, Van City United was born!
Since its inception VCU has been an active contributor to the local, BC and international disc golf community. One of the initial goals for the club was to have the biggest, most inclusive disc golf club in the lower mainland. We began with 40 members in 2013/2014 and almost doubled in size to 75 members in 2015. By 2016 we had reached our goal as our club grew to over 125 members, and as of 2020 we are growing faster than ever. In addition to hosting many local tournaments throughout the year, VCU hosted the 2014 BC Provincial Championship, held at Little Mountain Disc Golf Course (QE) and our neighbouring course on Grouse Mountain, and the 2016 PDGA Team World Disc Golf Championships, also held at QE.
We're extremely grateful to our Board members, club members, and the disc golf community for helping us grow this sport we all love!

MEET THE BOARD MEMBERS
JOE MOTT
President
Started playing disc golf: 2016, as a low-impact activity after recovering from a head injury.
First disc: Innova DX Boss (which I bought against recommendation). I was given an Innova Pro Beast shortly after.
Favourite shot in disc golf: I love throwing flip up lines through gaps, or throwing my Wraith on flex lines.
Favourite disc golf moments: A "Trip of a Lifetime" 2 week road trip from Vancouver to Palm Springs, playing great courses from dawn until dusk every day for 12 days straight. I am so grateful for the buds I went on the trip with, as well as everyone else I met along the way.
What I do outside of disc golf: I like to bike around the city, play boardgames (mostly Battlestar Galactica), and go snowboarding or skateboarding.
SHAWN LUCO

Started playing disc golf: 2008
First disc: Innova DX Wolf, which I still have.
Favourite shot in disc golf: A long shaped drive.
Favourite disc golf moments: My disc golf trips with friends, including a trip to Hawaii in 2013 to play in the Maui Open and the Big Island Open, 3 weeks touring around California in 2014, and a 2 week trip to Finland and Estonia in 2018.
What I do outside of disc golf: When I'm not disc golfing you can find me brewing beer or trying out new recipes.

Started playing disc golf: 2013, introduced to the game by the amazing Leanne Fulton.
Favourite disc: MVP Inertia.
Favourite course: Hillcrest Farms, Prince Edward Island.
Favourite shot in disc golf: Backhand, straight AF.
What I do outside of disc golf: When I'm not disc golfing I like to hang out with dogs and listen to Phish.
