The Van City United Disc Golf Club is currently looking for volunteers to fill several important roles within our Board of Directors. If you answered yes to any of the above questions, read through the role descriptions below, and fill out this short online application form to apply.
Events Lead
What’s the Gig?
An Event Lead will help grow our community through in person events.
We are looking for people interested in creating and/or hosting fun events (tournaments, clinics, drop-in's, etc).
These events can be reoccurring or one offs.
Ideally creating events appealing to newer players as well as veterans.
Why is this Role Important?
It’s a beautiful community that should be grown. There are many physical, social and mental benefits to our community.
The larger our community and tighter the bond – the stronger our voice to advocate for more and better disc golf courses.

Develop personal event planning and team leading skills

Varies depending on what event you want to do or get involved with.

Social Media Coordinator
What’s the Gig?
The SM coordinator will use their online personality to create fun ways of keeping our audience engaged across FB and IG (e.g. contests, giveaways, news, hot takes, etc)
Creating and/or sharing content that helps develop players skills as well as provides values to our members (e.g. clinics and tips).
Why is this Role Important?
Strong online engagement leads to more meaningful in-person engagement.
Online engagement is often the first step in the relationship with VCU. Your role will help newer players feel more comfortable to come out to in-person events.
Provides knowledge and education that help our members become better players
What’s in it for you?
An outlet for sharing your creativity, passion, and knowledge in the world of disc golf

Course Acquisition Team – Universities
What’s the Gig?
Your role focuses on encouraging Universities to create disc golf courses on their property.
Responsibilities will include opening up relationships with key decision makers, strengthening those relationships, educating them on why a disc golf course will benefit them and ultimately securing/developing the course.
Universities such as UBC, Capilano, and SFU. Open to having one lead per university as well
Training will be provided
Why is this Role Important?
Universities is one of best opportunities for more courses as they have the land and it benefits their students immensely (i.e. stress relief).

Your direct efforts will impact the growth of the sport. A new course will benefit 1000’s of players over time. A new course will create a lot of joy and happiness.
You get the opportunity to land a course and have influence on how its designed and executed.

Course Acquisition Team – Ball Golf Course Lead
What’s the Gig
Your role focuses on encouraging ball golf courses to trial disc golf conversions.
Responsibilities will include learning about the ball golf business and challenges, opening up relationships with key decision makers, strengthening those relationships, and educating them on the benefits of a conversion.
Why is this role important?
Ball Golf Courses is Vancouver’s quickest option for more courses. The land is plentiful and there is profit to be made for these courses.
We are expecting a large boom in players by next year Spring and Summer. These conversations can help offset the demand our courses can expect.

Your direct efforts will impact the growth of the sport. A new course will benefit 1000’s of players over time. A new course will create a lot of joy and happiness.
You get the opportunity to land a course and have influence on how its designed and executed.

Being a casual or avid ball golfer will help
Finance Lead
What’s the Gig
One of the most important roles on the team
Work on managing VCU’s finances, keep the books balance, and look for improvement opportunities (e.g. online payment system, etc)
Why is this role important?
Proper cashflow will enable the club to grow their membership and secure more courses.
What’s in it for you
Using your money management skills to allow VCU to accomplish its goals. Goals that will align with yours such as having a larger community, more events, and more courses to play from.
