By Chris Raeside
The VCU Fall Match Play League is a fun first league where you build bonds with other players, especially those on your team, between September and November each year.
The league is meant to introduce match-play style disc golf targeted toward Recreational to Advanced level players. We aim to give everyone a fun and growth-oriented experience.

Results:
1st: Up Shots, 29.5 points
2nd: Weird Flex, 26 points
3rd: Foreplay, 21.5 points
4th: Playing with Matches, 13 points
This set up a semi-final match between regular season champion Up Shots and Playing with Matches in 4th place coming in as clear underdogs. Weird Flex and Foreplay was the other semi-final match as both teams had reasonably successful regular seasons.
Coming in as the clear favourite, Up Shots found themselves in a tight match but came up short earning 3 points to Playing with Matches 5 points. The match essentially came down to the very end.
Weird Flex and Foreplay came down to the very last hole with a single putt ultimately determining the winner and Weird Flex coming out on top.
After a spicy semi-final match between Playing with Matches and Upshots, Playing with Matches continued their hot streak as they took on Weird Flex and won completing their underdog story and showing that everyone has a chance in the playoffs.

The league could not operate without the support of our captains. We’d like to give a big thank you to Steve Crozier, Stephen Yu, Chris Martin and Kingsley Ralling. We’d also like to thank our league coordinators for their efforts: Kingsley Ralling, Chris Raeside and especially Steve Crozier for taking the lead this season.
We’d also like to thank VanCity Disc Golf for supporting the league this season and last. Connecting the community is what makes the Vancity Disc Golf community a reality.
We want to give a huge thank you to Abbies Sports Shop for supporting the league. Owner, Steve Quinn, provided significant prizing support to our participants more than matching our commitment to their store.
Abbies Sport Shop is Vancouver's longest-running sports store! They specialize in youth league baseball, as well as focusing on rugby, field hockey and disc golf. You can find them at 4774 Main St in Vancouver and online at https://www.abbiessports.com/.
Thank you to everyone who participated this year and last year helping to establish the league and its success. Keep an eye on our website next July or August when we announce the 2023 season.
